PATH TO HEAVEN

"A mission to bring them home.”

Path to Heaven follows the story of a B-24 Liberator lost in World War II, the eleven crewmen who vanished with it, and the generations left with silence in its wake. Among them was 2nd Lt. Tomas “Tommy” V. Kelly, remembered only by a modest gravestone until a distant relative’s quiet act of remembrance set off an unexpected chain of events. What began as a simple gesture grew into a years-long journey—guided by persistence, synchronicity, and love—that transformed forgotten sorrow into connection. More than a story of war and loss, Path to Heaven is about what happens when we choose to remember.

Directors’ Statements

When Project Recover asked us to document the homecoming of 2nd Lt. Tomas “Tommy” V. Kelly, a World War II airman missing in action for more than 80 years, we knew this film would be deeply meaningful. Our intention was first and foremost to create something for the Kelly family—to honor their story of inherited loss and the extraordinary synchronicities that brought Tommy home. It was nothing short of a miracle that he was found.

We never know exactly how a story will unfold when we begin filming. For us, the process is about moving forward step by step, allowing the narrative to reveal itself along the way. The most rewarding part is meeting incredible people and witnessing the gratitude they feel when their story is reflected back to them through film.

We want to share Path to Heaven beyond the Kelly family because it speaks to a universal truth—that the sacrifices of those who came before us ripple through generations, and through remembrance, we find the missing pieces of who we are.

REad the Reviews

Tears within first ten seconds! I barely saw the video because of my tears. Very emotional and impactful. I love this as the story of the family.

Just when I thought this story couldn't produce another tear, you two deliver this beautiful, touching, thoughtful, professional, and so obviously made-from-the-heart documentary.
THOMAS BORST, Family member of 2nd Lt. Tomas V. Kelly
This is a beautiful piece. You continue to do incredible work. This piece is going to have a moving impact on all of those who watch it. I am honored to continue to work alongside both of you on this solemn mission.
